This photo guide is a result of recent field work on West African plant diversity started within the projects BIOTA-West Africa and SUN and is continuously updated within UNDESERT.

BIOTA Africa is a cooperative, interdisciplinary and integrative research project with partners in West, South, East Africa, Morocco, and Germany. The project aims at a holistic scientific contribution towards conservation and sustainable use of the biodiversity of the African continent and is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The EU-funded, interdisciplinary research project SUN aims at develop new, practical management tools and management actions for improved sustainable use of West African savannas and cultural landscapes. This photo guide project was realized within the scope of Workpackage 4. More information.

UNDESERT is an EU-funded research project aiming at combating desertification and land degradation in order to mitigate their impacts on ecosystem services and human livelihoods in West Africa. A major objective of its Workpackage 4 is to make biodiversity related data available on the internet. More information.
